Human Resources Generalist

Purpose of the Job

The Human Resources Generalist, in the Headquarters Office, provides HR related support functions to management and employees, ensuring the delivery of Human Resources services and programs to the country(s) assigned to support the organization at large.  His/her major responsibilities include but not limited to recruiting; compensation and benefits administration and other general HR support.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Job Posting and Recruitment:

  • Assist with the development of position descriptions, updates, and recruitment strategies.
  • Assist in the recruitment of applicants based on experience, skills, and education. Manage and update job postings and advertising first, internally, and then, externally, in keeping with company recruitment policies to ensure a sufficient pool of qualified candidates.
  •  Sort and screen applications daily. Recommend qualified candidates and update recruitment notes on the HR System. Phone screen candidates and participate in interviewing as directed.
  • Conduct reference checks for selected candidates. Complete hiring process (system and documentation) to comply with the various countries' legal requirements. Communicate candidacy status to all applicants.
  • Support compliance issues with all legal and organizational requirements in recruitment, hiring, and salary administration.

General HR Responsibilities:

  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Help organize, manage and conduct New Employee Orientation, On-boarding, Off-boarding, Exit Interviews, and Employee Training Programs.
  • Maintain personnel files; ensure they are complete, up-to-date and observing record retention laws.
  • Ensure effective benefits administration, supporting employees, answering their questions and providing assistance with any benefit claim issues or concerns. Research new benefits and possible providers.
  • Conduct needs assessments for employee training & development, assist in developing training plans, conduct employee satisfaction surveys. Update and maintain company training records.
  • Update HR system and records; run reports as necessary.  Participate in HR projects, salary surveys, rewards and recognition projects, and employee satisfaction initiatives.
  • Support the annual and probationary performance appraisal processes for all country offices; monitor employees' goal setting and completion processes.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the employee handbook, new personnel policies and procedure manuals.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor degree. Human Resources related study is a plus.
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional, human resources experience.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. High integrity, demonstrated the ability for discretion and employee coaching skills a must.
  • Excellent speaking/writing/reading of English and Arabic. Exposure to Coptic culture is a plus.
  • Proven organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Follow-through skills and ability to efficiently coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Word and Excel in a Microsoft Windows environment.

Extent of Public Contact (within and outside the organization)

The HR Generalist is a point of contact for candidates, speaks with employment agencies and recruiters on behalf of Coptic Orphans and must fully comprehend and understand the mission, vision, and plan of the organization.

Physical Demands (walking, lifting, carrying, etc)

Limited to the office work environment; sitting, typing, walking and occasional lifting of boxes and luggage.

Work Conditions and Environment (i.e., necessary travel, unusual work hours, etc.)

Must be available, as work requires, during some off hours.
