Purpose of the position:

The Church Affairs Assistant is the link between Coptic Orphans and the Church as a vital partner for the "Not Alone" program.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Along with the Church Affairs Advisor, attend meetings with the Bishops and priests for the following purposes;
  • presenting Coptic Orphans
  • following up the current issues
  • solving any pending problems
  • gain support and cooperation
  1. Attend quarterly field meetings with the field coordinators and area program managers to strengthen the relations with each area's servants and become more acquainted with their job nature and the challenges they face.
  2. Accompany NAP field coordinators to the home visits to the participating families on a regular basis in order to be acquainted with the developments and challenges of the program.
  3. Stay abreast of the Church news to see how it affects the programs of the organization or our relationship with the Church, while taking care of the credibility of the information sources.
  4. Send Newsletter every 3 months to Clergy updating them on the development of our programs.
  5. Participate in the preparation of all the publications issued by the department, which include the quarterly report to the Bishops, the financial report to the Pope and the bishops, the forms of the new cases, the new areas, and Coptic Orphans brochure presented to the Clergy.
  6. Keep record of all visits to and discussions with the Coptic Bishops (both inside and outside of Egypt) in the database (Co cloud).
  7. Participate in preparing the periodic reports presented to the Head Quarters which include;
  • Church affairs sheet
  • Weekly update
  • Semi-annual report
  1. Stay informed with the monthly reports and news issued by Coptic Orphans' programs and monitor any issue that is related to the Church (such as the program sector + serve to learn + Sponsor program + Valuable Girl)
  2. Assist program managers and coordinators in the preparation of serving new areas through;
  • Contacting priests to nominate volunteers,
  • Ensuring that the volunteers agree to the terms of the program.
  1. Submit a daily and weekly report to the Church Affairs Advisor with all the updates in order to make the right decision(s).


Supervisory Responsibilities:



Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of the Coptic Church in Egypt and its structure. 

Awareness of the sensitivity of the function.

High sense of collaboration and acceptance to others


Fiscal Responsibilities:



Extent of Public Contact:

Limited contact with Coptic Church Clergy under the supervision of the Church Affairs Advisor.


Physical Demands (walking, lifting, carrying, etc)

Limited to walking, sitting, and occasional lifting of boxes and luggage.

Must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle.


Working Conditions and Environment (i.e., necessary travel, unusual work hours, etc.)

May be required to work occasional extra/off-duty hours as work needs mandate. 

This job requires spending 75% of the time in the field and 25% for administrative duties.
